Hello, maybe my solution to this infamous "problem" will help/inspire somebody:
On my Tyee AL 5 frame build this winter I used eyelet for dropper line/cable to secure brake hose and also shifter line/cable with widest (iirc it was 4,8mm? which would fit) zip tie possible around seat tube as show on first photo (hose/cables are still lose and not tightened to their final form).
(If somebody will do it: It's easier to insert and pre-close zip tie for dropper cable first rather than do it later ... ask me how I know
).
Then I added second one above the hole where dropper cable enters frame so the hose/cable don't stick out of frame too much and don't hit the rear triangle.
Then the hose/cable are bend enought that they don't stretch too much when rear bottoms out and are secured with zip ties to "seatstays" (idk how to call it on full suspension bike) as shown on third photo.
I used PVC tubing around brake hose and shifter cable for 2 reasons:
- I was scared when tightening the zip ties around seat tube as much as possible so they won't move that I will squish brake hose in the process
- I was scared of rock/something getting stuck in space between seat tube and rear part connecting chainstays and damaging the cable or hose (thats why brake hose is covered almost entirely) ... with added tubing this space became even more narrow and after seeing how much dirt can accumulate there quick solution to this was creating cover from piece of old tube (for some reason double sided tabe wasn't able to hold it properly, therefore zip ties)
It's not the pretiest solution, but it works (so far).
Only problem which I found during build was with shifter cable. Default supplied with
Shimano shifter wasn't long enough so I bought 3m tandem cable to be safe. I think 2m housing should be long enough (I bought 4m a roughly 2m are left).
I took inspiration from this MX build
