The inner diameter of the bushings is the same for all Double Barrels, however the eyelet inside diameter can vary from model to model. The shock shown on the right with the older graphics has a 16.0mm eyelet bore. Shock on the left is a newer model with a 14.7mm eyelet bore. We have DU bushings available for both. The same bushing assembly tool will install and remove both sizes.
Depending on the vintage and spec of the (DBcoil), one of three eyelets are possible:
16mm, 15mm, 14.7mm. All DBair shocks on the market use 14.7mm eyelets.
Some Double barrels have mixed eyelets (16mm on one end, 15mm on the other
or 14.7mm on one end and 15mm on the other).
How to tell-
-Serial numbers that start with "D" - have a 15mm eyelets.
-Serial numbers that start with "V" - have 14.7mm eyelets on the valve body side (the part with the adjusters).
The shaft side can vary. On shocks made for bikes that doesn't use a bearing on the shaft side
(Giant Reign, Specialized Demo, Bergamont Big Air, etc) the shaft eyelet will be 15mm.
On all other shocks, the shaft eyelet will be 14.7mm. So basically, on any shocks with a "V" serial number,
the needle bearings won't fit because even if there is a 15mm shaft eyelet, you don't need a bearing there
anyway because of bike design.
