Es gibt eine neue XTR Gruppe! Oder besser gesagt – anderthalb neue Gruppen. Shimano bietet die eigene Top-Gruppe XTR wie bisher auch schon für den XC-Race Bereich an. Zusätzlich gibt es jetzt auch eine robustere und etwas schwerere Version für den All-Mountain Einsatz. Wie nach den neuen XT und SLX Gruppen zu erwarten war kommt die XTR auch mit 2 bzw. 3 x 10 Gängen.
Die XC Variante wurde gegenüber der Vorgängerversion um 298 Gramm abgespeckt – hier die Gegenüberstellung neu / alt:

Hier die XTR-AM Gruppe – es kommen einige andere Komponenten zum Einsatz – bspw 3-fach anstatt 2-fach Kurbel sowie die AM-spezifischen Bremsen, Pedale und Laufräder.

Ice-Tec
Draussen sind es gerade 30° auf den Trails – passend dazu hat man sich bei Shimano Gedanken um die Kühlung der Bremsen und bringt unter dem Namen Ice-Tec Neues auf den Markt. Die Bremspads haben eine Alu-Kühl-Rippe auf der Aussenseite und zwei Stahl Kühlplättchen auf der Rückseite, dadurch soll eine wesentlich bessere Ableitungder Hitze erreicht werden. Die Bremsscheiben sollen die Hitze durch den Sandwichaufbau in Stahl/Alu/Stahl ebenfalls besser abgeben.
Schon die neue XC Bremsen sollen laut Shimano 10% stärker sein als die bisherigen XTR Bremsen es waren.
I-Spec
Bei der neuen XTR können Brems-und Schalthebel zukünftig an nur einer Befestigungsschelle angebracht werden – analog zu SRAMs Matchmaker.
Die Schalthebel sind 2 und 3-fach kompatibel und können einfach umgestellt werden.
Pedale und Laufräder
Shimano verfoglt mit der neuen XTR den Rider Tuned ansatz, also die passende Abstimmung auf den Fahrer. Für XC und AM wurden Pedale und Laufräder jeweils getrennt für beide Zielgruppen entwickelt. Das XC Pedal PDM 980 (oben) wiegt 310 Gramm, das All-Mountain Pendant (unten) bietet eine deutlich grössere Auftrittsfläche bei 398 Gramm.
