Die UCI hat überraschend 4X aus dem Worldcup-Kalender für 2012 gestrichen. Im vorläufigen Kalender war die Disziplin noch enthalten. Zur WM gibt es noch keine Änderung (also wäre 4X in Leogang noch dabei).
Im Protokoll des aktuell stattfindenden UCI-Meetings ist der Wegfall der kompleten Disziplin nicht mal erwähnt.
„The UCI Management Committee also ratified the 2012 calendars for MTB, Supercross BMX UCI, Trials, Indoor Cycling, Paracycling and UWCT which will be available on-line tomorrow on www.uci.ch.“

Interessanterweise hat damit ausgerechnet das von Irene gebeutelte Windham seine Zusage für den Weltcup gegeben – natürlich ohne 4X.
Hat Jared Graves das gewusst? Versteht Ihr die Entscheidung angesichts der Tatsache, dass 4X in Europa stark läuft und nur in Nordamerika, wo lediglich 2 WCs ausgerichtet wurden, in der Krise steckt?

Die UCI hat eine Mitteilung zu herausgegeben – der 4X Worldcup wird demnach aus Kosten- und Umweltschutzgründen eingestellt
Press release: Four-cross at the 2012 UCI Mountain bike World Championships

Following the publication of the 2012 Mountain Bike calendar, the UCI confirms that Four-cross events will form part of the programme of the 2012 UCI Mountain Bike and Trials World Championships to be held in Leogang, Austria.
However, due to the high costs of constructing tracks and their impact on the environment, the UCI has decided to withdraw this speciality from the programme of events at UCI Mountain Bike World Cups from next season.
