Der Franzose Julien Absalon konnte sich genauso wie kurz vorher Sabine Spitz vom Rest des Feldes absetzen und fuhr einen ungefährdeten Olympiasieg ein. Silber ging an seinen Landsmann Jean-Christophe Peraud, Bronze an Nino Schurter aus der Schweiz.
Bester Deutscher wurde der aktuelle Deutsche Meister Manuel Fumic – nach einem Reifendefekt kam er auf Platz 11. Ebenfalls eine defekten Reifen hatte Moritz Milatz, für ihn reichte es nur für Platz 16. Wolfam Kurschat wurde 33ter.
